Webflow, Astro or Next.js for your marketing site
Developers usually pick the platform. The marketing team lives with it. Here's how we choose, starting from who edits the site and how often.
Start with three questions
- Who changes the site? A marketer building new landing pages every week needs something different from a team that edits a few paragraphs a month.
- What does it connect to? A CRM form is easy everywhere. A product catalogue, logged-in areas or pricing pulled from your app is not.
- Who maintains it in two years? If you don't have developers, the answer narrows quickly.
Webflow: when marketing builds pages
Webflow is a visual builder with real design control. Once we've built a component library, your team can assemble new pages without us. Hosting, security and updates are handled for you.
The trade-offs: monthly fees that grow with traffic and editors, limited control over performance, and content that's harder to move elsewhere later.
Astro: when content and speed matter most
Astro builds plain, fast pages and only adds JavaScript where it's needed. Paired with a headless CMS such as Sanity or Storyblok, editors get a friendly writing interface and visitors get a site that loads almost instantly.
The trade-off: new page layouts need a developer. Editors fill in pages; they don't design them.
Next.js: when the site is part of your product
Next.js is the right choice when the marketing site shares accounts, data or components with a web app. It's powerful and flexible, and it needs developers who know it well to keep it fast and up to date.
| Webflow | Astro + CMS | Next.js | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Editors build new pages | Yes | From set blocks | From set blocks |
| Speed out of the box | Good | Excellent | Good, with care |
| Needs a developer to maintain | Rarely | Sometimes | Yes |
| Running costs | Monthly plan | Low | Low to medium |
Our default: Astro with a headless CMS for most marketing sites, Webflow when the marketing team wants full control of layouts, and Next.js only when the site truly shares code with a product.
